Cube 6 - Instructional Slideshow

Cube 8 - Code Combat

Course Evaluation

1. What did you like about the course?
I really enjoyed the game journalism of the game Subsistence. I also learned a lot about photoshop, which was one of the main reasons I took computers in the first place.

2. What could be improved?
If you gave students a little more time for projects that would be appreciative. I may be overly slow, but I have spoken to other students as well who also agree that there were too many assignments in a small time span.

3.  Add a picture from your favorite assignment.

4. What should you have done to do better in this course?
I guess I could've kept up better. Tried to stay on top of assignments as best I can. I did try pretty darn hard though, but I can still try harder.

Game journalism DAY 5

I doubt I can get very far XD Knowing how far I can barely get in the first place I won't make it so much to a storage chest.

Just as I thought I only made it this far. Not even enough to make a platform ;/ Welp... I tried XD

I'd write a guide but I don't even know how to play properly or get the thing you need XD The farthest I've ever gotten is a platform, and all you need for that is wood from trees, some cordage from fibers, and some nails, from the many bags and boxes you find around. I think it's best if I leave it at that xD.

Game Journalism DAY 1

What are a person's basic needs for life?
Video games, food, and sleep.

What is the definition of the title of the game?
the action or fact of maintaining or supporting oneself at a minimum level.

A brief description of the game.
It's a survival game... That's as far as I got thus far.

What type of game is it and what does it compare to?
It is a survival game, and it reminds me of The Forest, and Minecraft, both being popular survival games. Subsistence uses a different engine then the others though. The Forest being Unity and Minecraft being it's own code, Subsistence uses the UnReal engine, making shadows and wind animation realistic. This game also reminds me of the new Nintendo game, The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild.

What does it mean to be 'early access'?
Early access is when you get to play and own the game before released to the public. You get to test it and send feedback and post about it, helping the development and possible hype for the game.

What are a few of the features of the game?
There's a temperature meter, which you don't see in many games, and there's also a nifty crafting and building, which you do see in many other survival games, but still is handy.

The movement controls are straight-forward which makes it easy to get right into the game, and being the controls most games use these days.

The controls are easy to learn.

And chopping a tree is nice.

According to the game... what are the tips for DAY 1?
Get wood, fire, shelter, and food.

What advice do you have for your readers?
It's really good just don't die.
